Connected Hardware

We Taught Google's Audience AI Which Customers to Go Find — and New Households Doubled

Performance Max will happily spend a budget on whoever converts cheapest, which for an established brand usually means people who were coming back anyway. This connected hardware brand needed net-new households, not repeat orders. Adquadrant took the brand's own CRM lists, built them into Google's Customer Lifecycle Optimization as separate purchaser and high-value-purchaser segments, and switched the account to optimize toward high-value new customers rather than blended return. New households went from 14% of purchases to 28% year over year, new customers reached 88% of Google-driven orders, and more than half of new buyers converted onto a subscription.

AI Max Surfaced 128 Branded Queries Our Keywords Never Matched — 33 of Them Full Questions

Exact and phrase match don't fire on a whole sentence. People increasingly search that way inside Google's AI Mode and other answer engines — asking how a product fits, how long it holds up, how it compares to a named competitor — and a conventional branded keyword build simply never sees any of it. Adquadrant enabled AI Max on this footwear brand's branded search to let Google's models match the brand against conversational intent. In a single month it surfaced 128 branded terms the account had no visibility into, a quarter of them full natural-language questions: a live read on where answer-engine demand is already forming.

AI-Generated Seasonal Backgrounds Lifted Shopping Click-Through 81%

Pier 1's ornament collection was running on plain white product images, the same as everyone else in the category. Adquadrant tested AI-generated seasonal backgrounds built in Merchant Center against those originals, changing nothing else. Click-through rose sharply while return on ad spend and cost per acquisition both held — a clean lift, not a bought one.

Google Premier Partner

Google's AI will write your headlines, generate your product imagery and choose your landing pages. Every one of those is a brand decision made at machine speed. As a Premier Google Partner we set the guardrails before any of it runs — and we watch them after it does.

The guardrails we set before anything runs
Your words, and the ones you'll never say
25 term exclusions · 40 messaging rules

AI Max can generate headlines and descriptions straight from your website. We load the text guidelines, excluded terms and messaging restrictions first, so generated copy stays inside your actual voice.

Brand and URL boundaries
Brand filters · URL inclusion

Brand inclusion and exclusion filters, negative lists and ad-group-level URL inclusion — so final URL expansion sends people to the pages you chose, not any page you happen to own.

Creative built from your guidelines
Asset Studio

Asset Studio turns brand guidelines into production creative. Whether that helps or hurts depends entirely on what gets loaded into it: colors, type, tone, and the things that must never appear.

Watched, not assumed
Policy reviews · 24/7 monitoring

Ads Advisor flags complex policy violations before campaigns go down and monitors accounts around the clock for suspicious domains and dormant users. We run those alerts as a standing process.

Agentic tools act on their own inside the guardrails you give them, and ask before they do anything bigger. Somebody has to set those guardrails and answer those asks. That is the work — not a switch you flip once at launch.

Customer Lifecycle Optimization

Your CRM Decides Who Google Chases.

Left alone, Google's bidding pays the same to win a repeat buyer as it does a household that has never heard of you. Customer Lifecycle Optimization is where you tell it the difference — and the only thing it has to work from is the customer data you hand it.

Your segments, built in Klaviyo

Lifecycle goals, set in Google Ads

Budget pushed toward net-new households instead of repeat orders

Segment before you sync

Example: bought once, nothing since, 180+ days

First-time buyers, high-value repeat buyers, lapsed customers and loyalty members get built as separate segments, then pushed to Google as separate Customer Match lists. One blended "all customers" upload gives the bidding nothing to act on.

Price the customer, not the order

Example: a first-time household valued above a reorder

Customer lifecycle goals let Google bid higher for a net-new household, chase new customers only, or re-engage lapsed buyers — across Performance Max, Search, Shopping and Demand Gen. We set that value from your real repeat rate, not a default.

Refresh it, or it decays

Example: a weekly sync, not a one-time upload

Match lists start going stale the moment they are uploaded. As a Klaviyo partner we keep the lists feeding Google on the same refresh cadence as your lifecycle email, so the audience Google bids against is the one you actually have this week.

Beyond the ad account

The Questions Don't Stay in the Ad Account.

Every question someone asks on the way to buying is research most brands never see. We collect it — from the query surfaces Google reports, from your converted search terms, from on-site search, and from what your sales and support teams hear all day.

How your audience actually asks

The comparisons they make, the objections they raise and the phrasing they use, before they ever reach your site.

Where that language belongs next

The same words should be in your product copy, your site and your content. Most brands are still writing in category jargon their buyers never say out loud.

What we'll tell you, when it matters

When the shift in how your category gets searched is big enough to act on beyond paid, you'll hear it from us. Not before.

Our Approach

How We Put Google's AI to Work

icon
Step 01

Assess

We audit what your account is optimizing toward and which AI features are sitting switched off: DSA exposure, conversion actions and values, feed and Merchant Center health, asset coverage, brand and URL controls. New to Google? The same audit, run against your first-party data and catalog. Either way, you see the plan before you commit to anything.

icon
Step 02

Adopt & Build

Off Dynamic Search Ads and onto AI Max on your timeline. Conversational attributes into the catalog. Asset Studio into the creative pipeline. Conversion values wired from your CRM so bidding chases margin, and Performance Max pointed at new customers rather than repeat buyers — with the safety and policy controls set before the automation widens.

icon
Step 03

Prove & Scale

WorkMagic geo-lift tests establish what Google actually caused, then that incremental truth calibrates the multi-touch attribution you manage by and the media mix model you plan by. Budget moves to what performs — across your site, Amazon and retail.

Measured by WorkMagic

Google's Report Card Is Written by Google.

WorkMagic Official Agency Partner. Smart Bidding optimizes toward the conversions you feed it, then reports its own success. WorkMagic tests what the spend actually caused — and the answer reads across your whole business, not just the Google Ads dashboard.

icon

Incrementality, Not Self-Report

Geo lift tests measure what Google's AI drove that wouldn't have happened anyway — a causal number, not a model you have to trust.

icon

Attribution Calibrated, Not Replaced

Lift truth feeds the multi-touch attribution you manage by day to day and the media mix model you plan by. Triangulated, not correlated.

icon

Halo Beyond the Click

The sales search spend drives on Amazon and in retail that the Google Ads dashboard never reports — so budget moves on total business impact, not just your site.

Why Now

The Upgrade Has a Date on It.

icon

Feb 2027

is when Dynamic Search Ads migrate automatically and new DSA ad groups can no longer be created — the upgrade happens on your terms or Google's (Google)

icon

+27%

typical conversion uplift from AI Max for advertisers still mostly on exact and phrase keywords — the all-advertiser figure is +14% (Google)

icon

98%

of WorkMagic lift tests successfully measure incremental lift, against a ~70% industry average — so you know what Google actually earned, not just what it reported

Why Brands Choose

We Don't Wait for Google's AI to Become Best Practice.

Whether you're being migrated off Dynamic Search Ads or already running AI Max without a clear read, you see the plan — and how we'll prove the results — before you commit to anything.

Partners on your side

Premier Google Partner, top 3% of US agencies, with direct Google agency support. WorkMagic Official Agency Partner for measurement. Shopify Plus and Klaviyo on the stack around your ads.

We run the new features, not the safe ones

AI Max, ads in AI Mode, conversational product attributes and Asset Studio — adopted as they ship, with the brand and policy controls set first.

Proof, not platform credit

Lift tests establish what Google actually caused. That truth calibrates your attribution and reads halo across your site, Amazon and retail.
