Introducing: Google’s Mobile Testing Tool

  • Avoiding software that’s not common on devices (i.e. Flash)
  • Text that isn’t readable without zooming
  • Sizing content (so users don’t have to constantly zoom)
  • Avoiding placing links too close to another (so they can be easily tapped)

These standards are so important to Google that they have even penalized and given higher ranking to those that adhere to the standard.

Google has just released a new, easy-to-use tool that will check whether your site fits within their standards and can be found, here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/

The tool is quite simple and doesn’t necessarily give you a great deal of feedback and suggestions for changing the design but it’s still a step up toward the right direction for best practices.
